Chairman of the AXA Group since May 2000, Claude Bébéar was the founder and charismatic leader of the Group since it was founded in 1985. Claude Bébéar is an outstanding French personality, not only for his entrepreneurial merit, but also for his involvement in society. As CEO of Axa, he created the Institute of Humanitarian Philanthropy in 1986, where he brought together an important group of business leaders. In 2000, he founded the Montaigne Institute, a leading think tank, particularly active in reflecting on competitivity, globalization, the modernization of the public sector and the construction of Europe.
Present in Europe, in the Americas, Asia Pacific, Africa and the Middle East, the AXA Group has 51.5 million clients, 110 thousand employees and 400 thousand shareholders. It has 1064 billion euros of assets under its management.
