Chairman of Citigroup Europe and member of Citigroup Global Management Committee, Sir Win Bischoff studied in Germany and in South Africa, starting his career in Chase Manhattan Bank in New York. He was a manager for Schroeders in London and Hong Kong and was appointed CEO in 1984. With the acquisition of Schroeder’s investment banking area by Salomon Smith Barney, a subsidiary of Citigroup, he was appointed to his current position.

He was knighted by the Queen of England in 2000. in the following year Sir Win Bischoff was awarded the “Freedom of the City of London” and became an Honorary Fellow of Oxford.

The Citigroup has 200 million clients spread over 100 countries, in the Americas, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. The history of the Citigroup covers the foundation of Citibank (1812), Bank Handolowy (1879), Smith Barney (1873), Banamex (1884) and Solomon Brothers (1910). In 2005, Citigroup had 1.5 trillion dollars under management.
