At 34 years old, in January 2005 he took over Oderbrecht, a company founded by his grandfather in Salvador da Bahia, 59 years ago.

Present in 18 countries, in South America, Central America, North America, Africa, Europe and the Middle East, the Oderbrecht Group is the largest Brazilian exporter of services. Leader in the areas of Engineering, Construction, Chemicals and Petro-chemicals in Latin America, it takes part in undertakings in the sectors of infrastructures and public services in Brazil and in Portugal and in Mining and Petrol in Africa. Last year the Oderbrecht Foundation completed 40 years of social work in the Baixo Sul da Bahia, which comprises 11 low-income municipalities, where it concentrates its action. In Portugal, through Bento Pedroso Construções, it participates in the concession of 500 kilometres of highways.
