Chairman

With a degree in Engineering from the University Agostinho Neto, Manuel Vicente was Chief Engineer in the Petrol Division of SONEFE and Head of the Technical Department of the then Ministry of Energy and Petrol. In 1999 he was appointed by the Government to Chairman of Sonangol, a position to which he was re-elected.

Sonangol’s objectives for the following seven years are to position itself as one of the main petrol companies in the world and to maximise its income for the promotion of development in Angola. To achieve its objectives, since 2003 the company has been implementing a vast investment program which aims to promote the exploration and production sector in the long term and petro-chemical refining and production activities in the short term.
