With a degree in Chemistry from the University of Colorado and with a masters from the University of Wyoming, Mohamed Al-Mady entered SABIC when it was first formed in 1976. In 1998 he was appointed General Director of Projects for the company, and was appointed Vice-Chairman and CEO of SABIC - Saudi Basic Industries Corporation. SABIC is a group which operates in the chemicals and intermediaries sectors together with industrial polymers, fertilisers and metals. It is the most highly capitalised company on the stock Exchange in Saudi Arabia. It is the second largest producer of ethylene glycol in the world, the third largest producer of polyolefins and the sixth largest producer of polypropylene. With 16 thousand employees throughout the world, SABIC is a petro-chemical group with its head office in Riyadh and clients in 100 countries. It has one of the most important R&D centres in the Middle East, which undertakes its activities in collaboration with universities from all over the world.
